The Storm: A Whole New Person
I think I must have known Ms. Martinez ever since I moved into the neighborhood. She...has always been a lovely woman and a great neighbor. Always nice to talk to and also would sometimes give out snacks and drinks. Kindness repays kindness, of course, so I sometimes helped out with the lawn of hers. No biggie. If all Christians were more like her, I bet the world would already be paradise. So, color me surprised when her entire character shifted out of the blue.
Our small neighborhood is not very prone to storms or anything like that. But, I believe a few weeks or so ago, a huge one hit us. I'm talking about a storm like, "Holy shit! We're gonna die today!". That kind of shit. Anyway, as weird and scary as that was, not much has been damaged actually. Sure, a few trees here and there were uprooted, and cars got wrecked, but I think that's pretty par for the course. No. What's unusual were the people, or rather the lack of them, after everything blew over.
The day after, I knocked on Ms. Martinez's door to see whether she was okay. She didn't answer. I tried again over the next few days with the same results.
It wasn't until one week later that I finally ran into her. I said "Hello" and "How are you" and all that jazz, as per usual, but she acted as if she had never seen me before. That was red flag number one. Red flag number two was her outfit. Modesty...no. Her outfit showed no modesty whatsoever. Blame me for being a healthy man, but I swear I'll never forget those cheeks of hers barely covered by dem denim shorts. Phew. Lord Jesus, that was a sight to behold. Uh...I'm trailing off right now. Please, give me a second.
Back on track, though, yeah...She talked differently, she dressed differently, and I don't even think that she is a woman Christ anymore either. It is as if the Ms. Martinez I know and that woman I saw were not the same person. The storm, or something, must have changed her. That's the only logical explanation I can find. Or perhaps she just woke up one morning and decided to become a whole different person. I guess that is also a possibility, but I doubt it. At any rate, it is still pretty strange to think about.
